Make plans this month for your family to be the first ones—the first ones to tour Idaho’s only water education center, the Boise WaterShed Environmental Education Center, which opens May 15.

This state-of-the-art learning center hopes to educate everyone, from children to adults, on the consequences of pollution and its relationship to conservation. One of the underlying messages for children who visit the WaterShed is to teach them how to conserve and protect our water supply and preserve it, so it’s there for them in the future.

Located at the West Boise Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Center will offer classroom field trips and tailored curriculum to students and school groups, as well as being open to the public. Through its exhibits, classes, theater, tours, library, and more, families can learn about water conservation and stewardship at Idaho’s first water education center.

We already know water is important, but your kids might still be wondering, “How can learning about water-related issues be fun?” The center’s interactive stations use hi-tech computer and interactive approaches to teaching water conservation. Through a mixture of fun and science, the exhibits offer computer games and activities that introduce visitors to the water cycle, the history of water around the world, the wastewater treatment process, and how to become a water conservationist.

Be the first to attend, and then see how your family can volunteer and donate to this new resource, the Boise WaterShed.

The new Boise WaterShed will provide interactive exhibits and activities to promote water, its importance as a natural resource, and the conservation of water in the Treasure Valley.
