These days, you don’t see many fairy godmothers flitting around, tapping people with their magic wands and granting the wishes of deserving young maidens and handsome princes. But here’s a news flash: Even if you can’t fly and you don’t know the words to Bibbidy-Bobbidy-Boo, you can still be a fairy godmother.
There are plenty of deserving young maidens and princes in our community, and we’re coming into ball season (except now we call it prom). Just as back in the days of Cinderella, these kids need party duds. Unfortunately, party duds can be pretty spendy, and it’s getting tougher all the time to find mice and birds who can sew. But you can be a fairy godmother by donating gently-used, stylish formal wear to Cinderella’s Closet, a program of Assistance League® of Boise that loans gowns and tuxes to high school students for a $10 cleaning fee.
In operation from April to May (prom season) and September to October (homecoming season), Cinderella’s Closet is located in Boise at 5831 Glenwood (across from the Boise Hawks Memorial Stadium), in the building behind the Assistance League Thrift Store. If you’d like to help make a young maiden’s or prince’s prom a magical night they’ll never forget, call Assistance League at 377-4327 (x332) or visit http://boise.assistanceleague.org.
